Restorative Care Pathway
The Restorative Care Pathway funds a short, goal-directed episode of care — $6,167.33 for up to 16 weeks, or up to $12,334.66 with an approved second unit. It is funded over and above your ongoing quarterly budget — accessing it does not reduce the funding on your classification page.
What the Restorative Care Pathway is for
Restorative care is a time-limited, therapy-focused episode aimed at helping a participant regain function and independence after a decline — for example following a hospital stay, a fall, or a period of reduced mobility. It sits alongside ongoing services rather than replacing them, and is separately funded so it doesn't compete with everyday budget for nursing, personal care, or domestic assistance.
How the funding works
- A single episode provides $6,167.33 over up to 16 weeks.
- Up to 2 units of funding are available within a 12-month period — either as 2 separate 16-week episodes, or combined into a single episode if approved through a Support Plan Review — for a combined total of up to $12,334.66.
- Funded over and above the ongoing quarterly budget — it is funded separately from your ongoing services budget.
Whether restorative care is right for you — and whether a second unit is approved — is determined by your aged care assessment, not by your provider.
